10 Fastest Pushes In WWE History
5. JBL (94 Days)
Similar to the earlier Sgt. Slaughter situation, JBL was by
no means a new face when he won his first WWE title. But he might as well have
been, given the huge change to his gimmick, appearance, and even his name, when
he re-debuted in 2004 as John 'Bradshaw' Layfield.
Gone was the beer-drinking, cigar-smoking, card-playing bar-dweller, and in his place was a suit-wearing, Wall Street-trading, Mexican-hating tycoon. He would tout his latest book or radio show, he had a “cabinet” to protect him, and at one point he even patrolled the US-Mexico border looking for illegal immigrants.
And it was a recipe for guaranteed heat.
The fans’ hatred of JBL propelled the character right to the main event, where he defeated Eddie Guerrero in a Texas Bullrope match at the 2004 Great American Bash. Now, admittedly, this victory came 3,074 days after he first debuted as Justin 'Hawk' Bradshaw, but it was a mere 94 days since JBL’s first outing on WWE televsision—enough to earn him a top five spot on this most official of lists.
