10 Finest Moments Of Respect Inside The Octagon
8. Georges St-Pierre Embraces Michael Bisping (UFC 217)
If you want to talk about some of the all time greats to have ever been associated with Dana White's company, you wouldn't be wrong in bringing Georges St-Pierre and Michael Bisping's names into that conversation.
So, when these two absolute titans of the combat sport were finally scheduled to take each other on at UFC 217 - for the Middleweight title no less - fans were eagerly anticipating this fantasy clash come to life.
Bisping had just recently captured and defended the UFC Middleweight title, after competing in the Octagon for ten years without winning any gold. Now he was faced with competing against one of the top all-rounders ever to appear under the UFC banner and GSP was looking to prove he still had it - nearly four years after his last performance.
They didn't disappoint and the pair went to absolute war for three rounds, before GSP technically submitted the champ with a rear-naked choke.
'Rush' successfully returned and won himself the Middleweight belt for the first time in his career. However, in a display of unrivalled class, GSP chose to comfort the fallen legend instead of immediately revelling in this epic victory.
In his post-fight interview, GSP then went as far as to label Bisping as the 'toughest guy he'd fought' and confessed to always being a fan of the Brit.
'The Count's epic career more than deserved this moment of respect/recognition and if you're going to lose your title to anyone, you'd be hard pressed to find a more gracious usurper than Georges St-Pierre.
