If there is one thing that professional wrestling companies love to promote, it is a first time ever matchup. Whether it be WWE, AEW, or any company around the world, their respective marketing departments go crazy when they see two wrestlers have never squared off before.

Recent months have seen first time dream matchups in MJF versus CM Punk, Edge versus AJ Styles Bryan Danielson versus Adam Page, and Bobby Lashley versus Brock Lesnar, amongst others. Even with those, there are never a shortage of new superstars entering WWE and AEW, meaning a new list of potential first time ever matchups are at Tony Khan and Vince McMahon's fingertips.

These potential dream matches can take the form a wrestler entering a new company and challenging the best of the best, a young up and comer taking on a well-established star, two major stars being kept away until the moment is just right, or two family members settling once and for all who truly sits at The Head of the Table. No matter the backstory or company where they take place, there are several matchups fans want to see for the first time.

10. Drew McIntyre vs. Theory

On 25 September 2009, Drew McIntyre was introduced to the WWE Universe by none other than Vince McMahon. Not only that, but the Chairman of the WWE christened McIntyre a future world champion in the process. Fast-forward over a decade later, and Vince McMahon is back on television, this time putting his stock in another rising star in Theory.

While it took ten years and included being released from the company, Drew McIntyre did eventually prove Mr. McMahon's prophecy true by becoming WWE Champion back in 2020. While anything is possible in the world of WWE, Theory looks to have a rocket strapped to his back, having a featured role against Pat McAfee at WrestleMania 38 and winning the United States Championship, all with Vince McMahon by his side. Along Theory's rise to the top of WWE, there should be Drew McIntyre, attempting to knock the arrogant Theory down a peg or two. Additionally, he can remind Theory that the last time Mr. McMahon backed a superstar the way Vince has, Drew was fired a few years later.

With The Scottish Warrior firmly in the main event scene of WWE and Theory well on his way, it should only be a matter of time before the two face off. Given their similar connection to Mr. McMahon, they will have a readymade storyline once they do meet in the middle of the ring.
