8. MJF Vs. Samoa Joe
Looking back on the last several months, it is crazy to think that AEW created arguably its greatest storyline to date, MJF versus CM Punk, all thanks to a photograph from Maxwell's childhood. The picture, of a young MJF meeting his hero in Punk, was the catalyst to one of the most personal rivalries that wrestling has seen in recent memory.
With that in mind, think of the levels AEW can take a feud between Samoa Joe and MJF when Maxwell reminds the fans of their first encounter.
Back in 2018, MJF appeared as a security guard during Samoa Joe's entrance at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II, being shoved by the NXT Champion in the process. Years later, MJF even went as far as to recreate the moment, shoving a member of his staff while making his way through a hallway in 2020.
It is impossible that AEW will be able to use the footage from 2018, as it is obviously owned by WWE. However, that should not stop the two from building on their previous history, no matter how small it may be. If MJF's feud with Samoa Joe is even half as good as his rivalry with CM Punk, fans will have plenty to look forward to once they do lock up.
