10 "Foreign" Wrestlers Who Were Actually Born In America

10. Lana

The WWE's current big foreign heel, Rusev, is a Bulgarian (true) powerhouse who has relocated to Russia out of a mutual admiration between himself and Vladimir Putin (not true). His valet, Lana, is a different story. Known as "The Ravishing Russian," she acts as moral support and a mouthpiece for "The Super-Athlete," extolling his virtues in impassioned promos €“ all of which are delivered flawlessly (as far as I can tell, anyway) in her mother tongue. Punctuated with a shrill, English "shut up!", her interviews have been the icing on the cake of the entire act, carrying the talented Rusev to big-time crowd reactions. In actuality, Lana is Catherine Joy Perry, a native of Gainesville, Florida, who grew up in Latvia, at the time a Soviet satellite state. She would come back to the U.S. for college, attending FSU and studying dance. In 2013, she was signed to WWE, and a lifetime of unique experience made for a convincing character.
