10 Forgotten WrestleMania Gems

10. Mixed Tag Team Match: Marc Mero And Sable vs. Goldust And Luna Vachon - WrestleMania XIV

The professional wrestling industry was in a state of change by the time WrestleMania XIV rolled around. The attitude of programming was changing from more family-oriented fare to an edgier, more adult-themed show. Violence, vulgarity and sex were amped up, with blonde bombshell Sable supplying plenty of the latter. Eager to showcase their breakout female star, Sable was positioned as the sympathetic valet to the egotistical Marc Mero. Along the way, she became mixed up with Goldust and Luna Vachon, both of whom Mero had associated himself with. When that relationship soured, a Mixed Tag Team match was announced for the biggest event of the year. Humiliated and physically assaulted by Luna, Sable was hellbent on revenge. More importantly, thousands of fans inside Boston's Fleet Center were all too excited to see her achieve it. While all eyes were on the future Playboy covergirl, Mero and Goldust laid the foundation for the match with some above average in-ring work. By the time Sable was tagged into the contest, the crowd came unglued, erupting as she pounded away at Luna with a series of hard rights, a flurry of kicks and a big powerbomb that rattled her more experienced opponent. By the time she delivered the TKO, Mero's finisher, the fans were at a fever pitch for the stunning Diva. The contest exceeded expectations and helped make Sable a household name. Shortly after the match, she would be a star on the level of any of her male counterparts and one of the faces of WWE's Attitude Era.
