In reality, the entire TakeOver: The End card could be deemed a series of forgotten events.

Andrade 'Cien' Almas, in his debut, vs. Tye Dillinger was short but decent, a TakeOver: Dallas rematch between American Alpha and the Revival hit the right spot, Asuka and Nia Jax's title bout was fine, and Samoa Joe and Finn Balor had a cracking steel cage match.

As for Austin Aries vs. Shinsuke Nakamura? It was blissful perfection. Going down precisely as you'd expect it to, the pair lived up to the 'dream match' headline beautifully, made only better by each man's ability to sell the sh*t out of literally everything.

Highlights here included a brutal apron Death Valley Driver and Aries missing his attempted Suicide Dive, instead meeting the barricade head-first in a sick collision. It was crucial for Nakamura to win, though. Although both men's in-ring debuts had occurred on the same event - TakeOver: Dallas two months prior - NXT higher-ups clearly had a bigger vision in mind for the King of Strong Style than they ever did for A Double.

Everything about the match made sense. It was designed to get Shinsuke over to a potentially unaware audience. It did just that, as if his match vs. Sami Zayn hadn't already achieved it. Even in defeat, Aries still shone, this being the peak of his WWE run.
