10 Former WWE Midcarders Who Had Main Event Finishers
3. William Regal (Regal Stretch)
The Regal Stretch is a variation of the STF, where the wrestler takes the opponents legs, bends them at the knees and crosses them, placing one ankle in the other legs' knee-crease. The wrestler then grabs the free ankle and places it between his thighs, before lying on top of the opponents back and locking his arms around their face. The wrestler can then pull back and stretch the opponents back, neck and knees to mind-bendingly painful levels. Regal also traps the arm with his variation in order to add even more pain to the opponents already agony-wracked body. What a villain. Coupled with the Regal Stretch, the Englishman also liked to nail opponents with the Regal Cutter (he wasnt very inventive when it came to naming his moves). A basic neck breaker variation, Regal would wrap his opponents arms around their own face before dropping down onto his back, bringing them with him. The most infamous use of the Regal Cutter was when he attempted to shake the hand of the lovely Trish Stratus, only to pull her in and drop her to the mat. All because she had besmirched his good name. Regal came close to cracking the main event scene on a few occasions but it wasn't to be. Had he got there, however, his finishing move would have been right at home with the Angle Slams and the Go 2 Sleeps of the world. Similar finishers used by more successful wrestlers: John Cena (STF/STFU)
