10 Former WWE Talents Who Thrived in Lucha Underground

8. The Mack

Those aware of The Mack from Lucha Underground - arguably the promotion's most underrated wrestler - might not know he was once under contract to WWE. Willie Mack signed with NXT in September 2014 but was let go before he could arrive in Orlando. The reasons behind his release were never disclosed, but WWE's loss was undoubtedly Lucha Underground's gain.

The Mack surfaced on the show late in Season 1, so he wasn't able to fully show the world what he was capable of outside of his Falls Count Anywhere match with Cage at Ultima Lucha. Thankfully for the fans, he was brought back for Season 2 and has aided Sexy Star in her ongoing rivalry with Marty "The Moth" Martinez and Mariposa.

While he has yet to have a bigger role on the program, hopefully he will in due time. One would never think that a guy of his large size would be able to do what he can inside the squared circle. It's simply surreal, and even now, his exciting offense never ceases to amaze me. His ode to Steve Austin by using the Stunner as his finisher is always a nice touch as well.
