I wasn't the biggest supporter of Daniel Bryan back in early 2012. I knew he was a great wrestler, don't get me wrong, but I wasn't enjoying his cowardly heel gimmick and the "NO! NO! NO!" chants were frustrating to watch. In hindsight, perhaps that was the point. When Sheamus won the Royal Rumble and Bryan/Sheamus at WrestleMania for the World title was set, I felt incredibly underwhelmed. It felt like a step down for the title that had previously main-evented the biggest show of the year. When the bout opened the show, I was intrigued to see what WWE would do and following one infamous kiss and a Brogue Kick, Sheamus had won the title and the sixty odd thousand in attendance went berserk. It was one of the most shocking 'Mania moments I had experienced live. Looking back now, what seemed like silly decision at the time was actually the catalyst for Bryan's meteoric rise to the top.
