The silver linings to be found during the WCW Invasion were few and far between, but luckily Stone Cold and Kurt Angle came together to ensure they shined as bright as humanly possible.

What started as a goofy feud between Austin and Angle over the affections of their boss, Vince McMahon, evolved into an even goofier, fickle kinship that produced some of the most memorable backstage segments of the era.

Both men were able to sink their teeth into a level of wackiness that, prior to their whimsical collaborations, was typically kept far away from the main event picture. It was rare to see a guy like Kurt Angle put on a tiny cowboy hat and argue with Stone Cold about who was better suited to cheer McMahon up.

Angle had become a little hype monkey, jumping around and spouting off like a kid on a sugar bender, while Austin kept him in-check with backhanded affirmations. ("I like ya... not very much, but I like ya," became a go-to sentiment.)

Sure, a lot of folks missed "the old Stone Cold", the beer-swilling, trash-talking S.O.B. who stunned everyone in his sights. And maybe for those people, the Stone Cold who gave people gifts, sang songs, and engaged in hugging contests just wasn't what they wanted. But everyone else was just happy to go along for the weird and wild ride.
