Best Decision: The nWo

Bischoff revolutionized pro wrestling programming in North America when he took a concept that brought considerable success to NJPW and applied it to WCW. The New World Order, and its precursor the Outsiders, was an outstanding concept that really helped push wrestling in a better direction.

Blurring the lines between reality and the scripted, the NWO was an awesome concept that brought WCW considerable success for years.

Bischoff’s NWO was a continuation of his philosophy of providing everything in wrestling that was not provided by WWE; in other words, whereas the WWE catered to children with cartoonish characters, Bischoff’s WCW targeted adults with edgy and more complex characters.

The NWO, which embodied this philosophy and added some more realism to a gimmick, was a resounding success.

This legendary stable was the magnum opus of Bischoff’s creativity. In particular, Bischoff created a masterful story in revealing Hogan as the third man of the group. That particular angle shook the wrestling world to its very core, and set the bar for the group’s future actions very high.

For the better part of two years, the NWO dominated WCW and the Monday Night Wars with their legendary feuds and alliances. Though it changed substantially in later years, it was Bischoff’s creation, and without it, it’s unlikely that WCW would’ve had such a monumental lead over WWE during the Monday Night Wars.
