10 Gimmicks WWE Needs To Bring Back In 2017 (And Who Should Use Them)

3. The 1%er

The fortunate son, the arrogant rich kid. Ted DiBiase Jr. seemingly had this gimmick ready-made for him, but he was presented somewhat as a joke and had all the charisma of a used teabag. It was difficult to believe at times that he was the son of The Million Dollar Man, but the times were different for one. We shouldn't be too hard on Teddy.

EC3 showed how well the fortunate family member could work in TNA, so much so that he is now a genuinely a sympathetic babyface. How did that happen? The 1% is a legitimate thing in today's world, a world that elected a member of that 1% as a protest against the 1%. Go figure.

The rich son of a billionaire would be another mega heel in today's professional wrestling world. WWE could go two ways here, giving the gimmick to a new character and hoping the crowd catches on, or they could be a little more creative; why not have Fandango find out that he is the heir to a billionaire's riches? Johnny Curtis is a character wrestling genius, he would surely work more magic with this.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
