10 Glorious Things That Must Happen In WWE Before 2017
7. Cesaro Grabs The Brass Ring
Cesaro has featured prominently since returning from injury. The Swiss Superman played an auxiliary role in the Intercontinental Title division for a couple of months, and has now transitioned into a “Best of Seven” series with Sheamus, another misused European worker.
Despite continuous TV time, Cesaro has gained very little traction up the card. He never looked close to capturing the IC Title, and while the Sheamus rivalry will no doubt produce some quality matches, it’s hard to see how the eventual winner benefits. Despite his post-Draft shoot, Cesaro remains stuck in a stationary position, and it’s time to change that.
At the moment, Cesaro’s little more than an outstanding technical wrestler with a terrible entrance theme and a goofy ring entrance, even as the Cesaro Section swells in numbers. So what if he can’t really pull-off a long, scripted promo? The Swiss Superman is money between the ropes, and an outstanding showman when given an opportunity to do what he does best.
Calling Cesaro “underpushed” is almost cliché at this point, but it’s absolutely true. The guy’s gotten himself over with the crowd based solely on his exciting in-ring performances, and should now be given an opportunity to reach-out and grab the fabled brass ring.
