10 Great Tag Teams That WWE Must Sign Today
3. Matt Sydal & Ricochet
As far as pure spectacle goes, it’s hard to top Matt Sydal and Ricochet. They’re two of the most athletic wrestlers on the planet, a highly-innovative set of high-fliers who make even the most demanding flips and dives look like the easiest thing in the world.
They’ve already captured the IWGP Junior Heavyweight belts twice this year, and currently co-hold NJPW’s 6-Man Tag Team Championships with their veteran partner Satoshi Kojima. Ricochet was most recently seen lighting-up the company’s Best of the Super Juniors tournament (including a stunning Match of the Year candidate with Englishman Will Ospreay), while Sydal continues to evolve by supplementing his flying style with a more measured, mat-based approach.
Ricochet seems destined for WWE at some point, but with a prohibitive Lucha Underground contract hanging over his head, it’s unlikely we’ll see him show up at the Performance Centre until late 2017 at the earliest. Sydal, meanwhile, left WWE in 2013 after a series of Wellness Policy violations, but there’s little doubt he and Ricochet would make immediate waves in WWE's tag division.
