10 Great Wrestlers And Their Terrible Impersonators
2. Diesel & Razor - Fake Diesel & Fake Razor
Well, this was a bad idea. Razor Ramon (Scott Hall) and Diesel (Kevin Nash) were two of the WWF's hottest properties in 1996, and when they left for more lucrative contracts at WCW, their absence left a huge hole in the company. What stung even more than their absence was the fact that Hall and Nash were acting like their old WWF characters on WCW TV. Not only did WWF sue (successfully) in order to get them to stop, but they also put into action one of the dumbest ideas they'd ever had. Because they owned the rights to the names, WWF advertised that "Diesel" and "Razor Ramon" would be making an appearance on Monday Night Raw, despite both men also being advertised for WCW Nitro. Confused, fans tuned in to see this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgEMnxe31uQ Apparently Razor and Diesel were like Doctor Who and had regenerated into shabbier versions of themselves. The gimmicks unbelievably lasted until the Royal Rumble 1997, despite being as welcome as "a fart in church", as JR put it. Rick Bognar, who played Razor, left the company when his 1-year contract expired but Glenn Jacobs found slightly better fortune, going on to become The Big Red Machine, Kane.
