10 Greatest Canadian Wrestlers Of All Time

6. Trish Stratus

Trish Stratus is the sole female competitor to make the cut for this list of great Canadians. While fellow female wrestlers Gail Kim (Toronto), Natalya Neidhart (Calgary) and, to a lesser extent, Maryse Ouellet (Montreal) have all had successful careers, none have reached the heights of Stratus. This can largely be blamed on WWE’s poor use and mistreatment of female talent; but despite those factors, Trish Stratus was still able to accomplish everything she did during her career, making it all even more impressive. Trish was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2013.

A former fitness model from Toronto, Ontario, Trish began her career in 2000; mostly involved in sexually themed storylines, such as managing the team Test and Albert (T&A) and an affair with Mr. McMahon’s character. As she spent more time in the ring, her skills increased. Stratus would capture her first Women’s title at Survivor Series in 2001. She was also a one-time WWE Hardcore Champion, holding the belt for five minutes in 2002. Although her matches were good for the next few years, it was not until Trish began feuding with Lita that her career became legendary.

Trish and Lita wrestled one another TWENTY-SEVEN times, in just singles competition, from 2000-2006. The number becomes even more staggering if tag matches are included, as the women locked horns a combined ONE-HUNDRED AND FOUR bloody times in those same six years (stats per www.cagematch.net).

Well, at least the matches were usually quite good. So good in fact, that the women main evented a Raw on December 6th, 2004; and in case you did not know, that was the first time two women had main evented Raw, ever. Trish retired two years later in 2006, going out as a seven time Women’s Champion, a record that stands to this day.
