10 Greatest ECW Champions
7. Justin Credible
This grungy, egotistical heel committed one of the meanest moments in ECW history when he beat newly crowned champ Tommy Dreamer. To be clear, Dreamer had won the belt a mere 20 minutes prior after years of chasing the main event. CyberSlam 2000 was the show in which Credible took the lead, becoming a despicably amoral champ.
With an attitude too big for the ring, Credible turned on his mentor Lance Storm, refused Dreamer’s right to a rematch and injured Dawn Marie with his dreaded That’s Incredible finisher. Credible’s reign of terror lasted 162 days before Jerry Lynn put a stop to his antics.
Credible had started his ECW run on loan from the WWF where he had worked as Aldo Montoya, a masked man inspired by Credible’s Portuguese heritage. It was in ECW however that he found his voice and his way into main events. While his career in the years since failed to amount to mainstream success, his impact in ECW ensured he remained a cult favourite for years to come.
One of the highlights of ECW’s closing years, Credible even competed in the promotion’s final match, a battle with The Sandman on 13 January 2001.
