10 Greatest Finishing Sequences In Wrestling History
1. Austin Helps Mankind Win The Big One (WWE Monday Night Raw, 1999)
Two years on from playing a pivotal role in another all-time great bout ending, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin was at it again on the January 4, 1999 edition of Monday Night Raw.
After being hilariously informed by Tony Shiavone that Mrs Foley's Baby Boy was set to win the big one on that pre-taped episode of the red show, many a WCW Nitro viewer quickly opted to switch the channel and witness the chaos unfold for themselves.
And what a treat they were delivered.
With The Rock and Mankind competing for the former's WWF Championship under No DQ rules, both The Corporation and D-Generation X were ringside. And things inevitably boiled over to the point of an all-out brawl after Ken Shamrock's attempts to keep Mick Foley from sealing the win with Mr. Socko.
The various gripping near-falls and subsequent Corporation/DX war around the ring were merely the setting the table for a beat that nearly brought the whole damn building down, however.
That legendary glass smash, one sickening Austin chair shot to The Great One's head, and the loudest 1-2-3 of the Attitude Era later, wrestling history was made.
And an immortal finish that would be replayed on countless occasions in the years that would follow didn't half put a few butts in seats...
