In Da Man's all-conquering streak, WCW knew they had something pretty darn unique. And the dominant Goldberg ultimately going on to lift the WCW World Heavyweight Championship felt about as inevitable as it gets.

But the way the company eventually executed that hotly anticipated crowning moment took an undeniable event and made it instantly iconic.

With the former NFL player also having to overcome nWo member Scott Hall on the July 6, 1998 edition of Monday Nitro going down in the star's hometown arena of the Georgia Dome in front of 40,000 strong, the stage was set for Goldberg's epic showdown with Hulk Hogan over the big gold belt.

And while the match itself wasn't exactly an in-ring clinic by any means, the atmosphere was simply electric - and that noise carried the pair into one hell of a conclusion.

Dropping not one, but three of his trademark leg drops on the challenger, Goldberg's powering out absolutely ignited those vocal thousands in Atlanta.

The sight of NBA star Karl Malone taking out Curt Hennig at ringside with a Diamond Cutter only erupted the white hot arena that little bit more, and set in motion a spear-Jackhammer sequence that produced a reaction comparable with a hometown hero scoring a last-minute winner in a World Cup final in their own backyard.
