10 Greatest High-Flyers Of The Pre-Attitude Era
8. Owen Hart
Owen Hart stands out as a unique high-flyer for many reasons, not the least of which is that he was a damn Hart. Harts weren't known for being risk-takers in the ring.
They were cerebral, they were precise, and they were efficient. Owen was all of those things, too, but he just happened to enjoy flying off the top rope more than the rest of his family.
Yet, perhaps because of the Hart Family's legacy of mat savviness, Owen's ability to entertain fans with a perfectly-executed missile dropkick or moonsault seems to get overlooked in retrospect.
But Owen spent roughly a third of his matches - particularly earlier in his career - leaving his feet to launch himself at an opponent in one way or another.
His feud with big brother Bret in the early 90s showed that while The Hitman had earned his moniker of The Excellence of Execution, Owen had likewise cemented his the rationale behind his nickname, The Rocket.
Speaking of which, anyone who forgets just how high this guy could soar need only to search for a video of he and Jim Neidhart performing a tag team finisher called The Rocket Launcher, wherein The Anvil catapulted the youngest Hart off the top turnbuckle into a flying body splash on their unfortunate opponent.
