10 Greatest In-Ring Alliances In WWE Royal Rumble History
1. Edge & Randy Orton - 2020
Even though rumors floated around the web before his surprise return, it was still remarkable that Edge was able to make a return to WWE during the 2020 Royal Rumble match. Although some might have anticipated his surprise appearance in the bout, what was less considered was the possibility of a Rated RKO reunion.
After 'The Rated R Superstar' delivered a series of viciously oversold Spears (ask AJ Styles), he turned his attention to his former friend and rival, Randy Orton. For a portion of the match, fans cheered on the duo as they worked in unison to place them further along in the Rumble. Of course, like most Rumble partnerships, it was short-lived.
'The Viper' considered attacking his returning buddy from behind but was caught in the act. Although Orton tried to play it off as a friendly tease, Edge was too experienced to believe him and eliminated him from the contest.
It may not have lasted all that long, but fans stood out of their seats when Rated RKO took over the Rumble. The equally quick implosion also led to Edge's WrestleMania return in a Last Man Standing Match and "The Greatest Wrestling Match Ever" at Backlash. It's also very likely fans will see WWE return to their feud once the two are properly positioned in the future.
