Paul Wight has since admitted that defeating Hulk Hogan for the World Heavyweight Title in his debut match probably wasn't the best way to imbibe the actual rigours of a notoriously tough industry, but the prodigious young talent immediately proved his remarkable worth with lightning quick improvement.
The Giant was credible by virtue of his size alone, and defeating Ric Flair to kick off his second reign with the title in April 1996 highlighted his immense value at the top of the card.
