10 Greatest WCW Halloween Havoc Matches

8. WCW Tag Team Championship Match - Dustin Rhodes & Barry Windham vs. Steve Austin & Steve Williams (Halloween Havoc 1992)

Time limit draws are hardly the finish guaranteed to satisfy fans but the WCW Tag Team Championship match between the teams of Dustin Rhodes and Barry Windham, and Steve Austin and Steve Williams, was so good that it overcame the disappointing finish to rank among the greatest bouts in Halloween Havoc. Austin substituted for Terry Gordy who, with Steve Williams, had dominated WCW's tag team division as The Miracle Violence Connection. They dismantled the Steiner Brothers in a manner no other team had before. They rolled over any and all tandems put in front of them before coming upon the scrappy underdog team of Texans in Rhodes and Windham. Sure, they knocked off the popular blondes to win the titles in a tournament but lost them to their rivals on September 2, 1992. The match at Halloween Havoc was to be somewhat of a rubber match. Unfortunately, Gordy left the company, preventing the blow off to the feud. It was of no consequence to the quality of the bout, however, as Austin filled in quite nicely. The match was hard-hitting, high-impact and featured some outstanding old-school, southern-style tag team wrestling. Rhodes and Windham were so good at eliciting sympathy while Williams was like a bulldozer, running over both babyfaces while Austin worked the ground game. The different styles meshed well with the story the performers were telling and the result was a fine tag team title bout. Even if fans never did get resolution from the Rhodes and Windham vs. MVC feud.
