10 Greatest Worked Shoots In Wrestling History

9. Roddy Piper On Vince Russo

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Uyr8wnHpT0 A segment on TNA in 2002 goes out of control€ or does it? €˜Rowdy€™ Roddy Piper had, allegedly, asked for time on the mic to promote his book, but instead launched into a long, apparently unscripted promo attacking ex WWF and WCW writer and booker Vince Russo (then an on-screen character with TNA). Piper would claim to have legitimate heat with Russo, citing Owen Hart€™s death as one of the things that he held Russo responsible for, and delivered the promo straight to Russo€™s face in the centre of the ring, at one point even giving him a genuinely hard shot to the side of the head when Russo attempted to interrupt. What makes this different from most of the examples on this list is that the people involved still claim, to this day, that the encounter was a shoot and not worked. Piper is old school, so his adherence to the party line is understandable, but Russo? In any event, the promo took place on an episode of Impact, and television shows have to be timed and edited to the minute. The idea that the people backstage running the production didn€™t know how the segment would go is fairly ludicrous.
