10 Greatest Worked Shoots In Wrestling History

5. Vince Russo On Hulk Hogan

This is the legendary Bash At The Beach incident, the reasons for which are fairly well known by now. It would cement Vince Russo€™s reputation in professional wrestling circles, for good or bad, and cause Hulk Hogan to leave WCW entirely. Coming to the ring shortly before the beginning of the main event between Hogan and WCW Champion Jeff Jarrett, Russo had ordered Jarrett to lie down so that Hogan could pin him immediately. While at first the Hulkster had balked at the idea, he eventually €“ and grumpily €“ covered Jarrett with one boot for the win, and the WCW Championship. Before doing so, Hogan would say, €œThis is why this company€™s in the shape it€™s in €“ because of b*llsh*t like this.€ Russo would later come back to the ring and deliver an invective-filled promo blasting Hogan for being a backstage politician, declaring Hogan€™s championship worthless, and announcing that Jarrett was still champion and would defend the title against Booker T. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xfotjg_hulk-hogan-vs-jeff-jarrett-bash-at-the-beach-2000_sport There are several different versions of the story behind this incident. What everyone seems able to agree on is that the screwed-up championship €˜match€™ was a worked shoot, but Russo€™s promo later on was a genuine shoot. Hogan would later sue Russo for defamation of character thanks to the way in which he was insulted on live television, but wouldn€™t get very far.
