10 Greatest Wrestling Comebacks Ever

4. Hiromu Takahashi

Hiromu Takahashi is your writer's favourite wrestler and a key reason for loving the wrestling industry to begin with. He's also one of the best reasons to start watching New Japan Pro Wrestling. It was quite the moment seeing him break his neck against Dragon Lee in 2018 in person - watching him force his way to the finish, powering through when we all knew something was wrong was a lasting memory. In the immediate aftermath, feeling the shock and horror upon realising that he might not be okay is still palpable, the horror that he might not come back felt so real.

After over a year of waiting and the return date being pushed back time and time again, it sometimes felt like we weren't going to see the beloved Timebomb in a wrestling ring again. But Hiromu did come back and wrestled as brilliantly as he ever had, reclaiming his Junior Heavyweight Championship and embarking on a critically acclaimed 2020 run with men like Taiji Ishimori, Tomohiro Ishii and Kazuchika Okada.

His comeback still feels miraculous, something that brought tears to the eyes and with a Best of the Super Juniors win this year almost certain, it won't be the last time tears are shed for Hiromu's return.
