10 Greatest Wrestling Comebacks Ever

2. Edge

Edge WWE Return

In 2011, Edge announced his retirement from professional wrestling, saying that he had taken so much damage that one more bad bump could have left him in a wheelchair. It seemed to rule out the possibility of him ever returning to the wrestling ring. Over the last decade, it became accepted truth that Edge was done before his time was up, he was celebrated as an all time great but there was a melancholy surrounding him whenever he appeared on WWE television. He just couldn't wrestle anymore.

Yet, in 2020, in the middle of the Men's Royal Rumble, that iconic theme music played and he walked down the ramp, looking better than ever. With tears in his eyes, he showed the world that he was back, that neither age nor damage could stop him from ending his career on his own terms.

He would go on to have two differently engaging matches with Randy Orton in the WWE feud of 2020, and proved that he still had every bit of natural charisma and technical skill that fans loved him for. Edge was back, and when he recovers from his latest triceps injury, he will continue to wonder us like he'd never left.
