Charles Robinson grew up idolizing "Nature Boy" Ric Flair, and- after two years refereeing on the indy circuit- was hired by WCW in late 1997. In 1999, Robinson followed his idol into the Four Horseman, becoming the official referee for the stable. He remained in that position until the (kayfabe) suspended-"Macho Man" Randy Savage demanded Robinson wrestle Savage's valet Gorgeous George; if George won, Savage would be reinstated. Despite Robinson becoming "Little Naitch" in the match- copying Flair from his robe and hair to his in-ring mannerisms and strut- George was victorious, and Savage was reinstated. That led to a tag match one week later- Flair and Robinson vs. Savage and Madusa- and an errant elbow drop from Savage left Robinson with several cracked vertebrae and a collapsed lung. Robinson returned to being an unbiased referee in WCW at the end of 1999- even appearing as the main ref in the WCW-based movie Ready To Rumble. He was brought over to WWF when WCW was purchased in 2001, and in the last-remaining on-screen performer from that purchase (although several such as Hugh Morrus and Bill Kidman remain on as trainers, and Arn Anderson is a backstage agent.) Robinson has the (un)fortunate distinction of being the referee in the final matches for Eddie Guerrero, Edge, Shawn Michaels, and Flair (although Flair came out of retirement after leaving WWE in 2009.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWU5KgqZw4Y For a man who has refereed main events of WrestleMania- including Batista vs. Undertaker at Wrestlemania 23, an infamous run-in to count for the original ref during Edge vs. Undertaker at WrestleMania 24, and Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker at Wrestlemania 26- Robinson has maintained a modest position in WWE. He remains a member of the Production and Ring crew, setting up the ring, lights, and backstage area, and also disassembling the arena after the show.
