10 Greatest WWE TV Matches Ever

5. Razor Ramon Vs. The Kid - RAW (May 17, 1993)

Razor Ramon Vs. The Kid was meant to be a forgettable star-enhancing squash match, the likes of which were typical of the era. For almost the entire duration of it, it was.

Razor started the match in customary fashion, tossing his toothpick in Kid's eye, but the brutal intensity of his offence was conspicuously ramped up. He threw Kid across the ring with so much force that he nearly landed on his neck. He then hurled Kid into the corner and delivered a legit slap to his face so loud that Bobby Heenan accurately compared it to a gun shot before practically tossing him into the rafters with an overhead throw. Razor then ensnared him in an abdominal stretch, tripling down on the damage by wrenching Kid's hip out of the socket and tearing his hair from the scalp before, in one of the most shocking moments in RAW's twenty four year history, Kid planted him with a moonsault out of nowhere and scored the narrow pin.

In retrospect, the whole thing was structured and executed to perfection. Razor was such a vicious sh*theel that he lost none of his aura even in the face of what was a shocking and unprecedented result. Those skinny wimp enhancement talents simply didn't win on television. They barely got their licks in.

There have been better pay-per-view quality offerings on television, but there were few better that worked as a television match.
