10 Most Horrific Accidents In Wrestling History

6. Vader€™s Eye Pops Out

Vader Eye Big Van Vader was a monstrous, massive wrestler. He struck fear into the hearts of his opponents everywhere. Real name Leon White, Vader was known to be stiff with other competitors, as he was convinced that his hard-hitting strikes looked better that way. You can€™t really say he was wrong, as it always looked like Vader was trying to take his opponent€™s head off -- which is because he probably was. In 1990, Vader was set to go up against another stiff American wrestler during an All Japan versus New Japan supershow. The legendary Stan Hansen was Vader€™s opponent, and Hansen was famous for being incredibly stiff as well. He was also famous for being nearly blind without his glasses -- glasses he couldn€™t wear while wrestling. As Vader entered the ring, Hansen swung his bull rope at the masked man. The cowbell on the end of the rope hit Vader in the face, breaking his nose. The match hadn€™t even started yet, and Vader was injured. It was about to get even worse. Vader was hot and quickly started throwing stiff strikes at Hansen. The two brawled, shooting on each other. During the melee, Hansen accidentally thumbed Vader in the eye. The big man backed himself into the corner and removed his mask -- the sight was truly horrific. Vader€™s eye was actually bulging out of his head, having been dislodged from the eye socket thanks to Hansen€™s thumb. The two men, surprisingly finished the bout, which ended in a no contest. The sight of Vader€™s bulging, swollen eye will continue to live on as one of the most gruesome images in wrestling history.
