7. Xia Brookside
Following the demise of NXT UK in August 2022, several of the brand's talent were released back into the wild.
One of the most shocking names on that list was Xia Brookside, the 24-year-old daughter of British wrestling legend Robbie Brookside.
Mr. Brookside currently works as a trainer for NXT and was a regular tag partner for William Regal back in the day. The wrestling apple did not fall far from the tree, as his daughter inherited plenty of his in-ring skill.
Xia's release came as a surprise to many for a number of reasons. Firstly, she had that rich heritage that WWE loves to exploit. Secondly, she had connections within the company. And thirdly, she was really good! Especially considering her age.
Despite this setback, there is a still a long way to go in Ms. Brookside's career. Perhaps she'll get a call to rejoin WWE as part of NXT Europe (whatever that is). Or there's the litany of English promotions that have re-found their footing after the pandemic.
Maybe she could marry Charlie Dempsey and unite the great British wrestling houses of Regal and Brookside, Game of Thrones style!
