Daniel Bryan's retirement from professional wrestling earlier this year left a huge gap in the sport's landscape. While there will only ever been one "American Dragon," his influence as an pioneer in the sport has rubbed off on a whole new generation of stars - including the inheritor of his "best technical wrestler" throne, Zack Sabre Jr.

English native Sabre has taken the tight European style William Regal passed on to Bryan, impressive holds and rolls from World of Sport standouts like Jim Breaks, and hard puroresu strikes to become one of the best overall workers in the world. He's capable of having a good match with anyone, and he's shown that during his tenures with NWA UK Hammerlock, Pro Wrestling NOAH, and PROGRESS Wrestling.

In 2015, Sabre decided to relocate to the U.S., sparking rumors that he would be joining WWE. Since then, he's been working for groups like EVOLVE and PWG, capturing the latter promotion's World Heavyweight Championship this past March. In April, he defeated Flash Morgan Webster to earn a spot in the WWE Cruiserweight Classic, and despite suffering a grisly arm laceration that put him on the shelf in May, he's back in action now.

Like Alexander and Ibushi, Sabre can pretty much go wherever he wants. A WWE run ultimately seems like the most likely next step for him, but even if the Cruiserweight Classic is the extent of his involvement with the company, expect to hear a lot more about Zack Sabre Jr.
