In what should be a continuing trend for the night (more on that later), Los Ingobernables de Japon can work towards a clean sweep at Wrestle Kingdom if the Bushi/Shingo Takagi pairing can wrestle the belts away from the deadly and dangerous Suzuki-gun representatives El Desperado and Yoshinobu Kanemaru.

Though far from third wheels in this match (Sho and Yo won the original version of this very match in the final of the Super Junior World Tag League in November), said wheels have been spinning somewhat for Roppongi 3K over the last 12 months. Don't expect a return to the mountain The Young Bucks knocked them off of at last year's Wrestle Kingdom here. Nor - regrettably - match as good as that dynamic doubles dispute.

Three-way matches ordinarily hinder rather than help the wrestlers, but if any story emerges here at all, it should be the rise of LIJ through the renewed strength received by Shingo's early successes. The group likely imagined they'd still be toasting Junior genius Hiromu Takahashi before his broken neck ruled him out until further notice, but this fiery fire-back following the aforementioned Tag League loss has been key.

Shingo and Bushi ended 2018 with multi-man wins over both opponents here. They'll start 2019 by doing it as a duo, and when it matters most.

Winners - Los Ingobernables de Japon
