10 Huge Pops WWE Fans Gave To Outsiders

6. Rob Gronkowski

That Rob Gronkowski is a whole other type of annoying, isn’t he? Even down to his nickname. ‘The Gronk’ sounds like a fad from 1993 or a colloquial name for a disease that renders your nose eternally runny. Throw in the frat-boy antics, the eye-rolling mannerisms, the awful dancing, that godforsaken music. It’s Sylvain Grenier, gone very, very wrong.

But boy do those American fans love them some Gronk. The three-time SuperBowl champion recently signed with WWE but his WrestleMania debut came back in 2017, in the latter stages of the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. Gronk got involved after Jinder Mahal - sorry, former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal - threw a drink in his face. The crowd went bonkers.

Well, they initially went bonkers, but the whole thing died down somewhat when an overzealous security guard tried to stop Gronkowski from heading to the ring. The confusion stalled the pop’s momentum, although the current 24/7 Champion regained his composure and hit Mahal with a tackle that got another massive pop.

He’ll be a heel before Christmas. Guaranteed.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
