4. As The World Turns

Bayley and Sasha Banks' entire history has been defined by turns.

In NXT, both Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch turned on Bayley to join up with Sasha Banks at different times. Following the pair's iconic battles TakeOver: Brooklyn and TakeOver: Respect, Sasha Banks was effectively turned babyface out of sheer adulation for the quality of the pair's matches.

In 2019, she turned heel upon return from an self-imposed absence caused by years of atrocious booking of the pair. Later that year Bayley did the same in siding with her, then doubled down on the switch with a completely new aesthetic and attitude that gradually morphed into the version that exists today as the long-running SmackDown Women's Champion.

Coming full circle, all that remains is a babyface turn from Banks, having been at the centre of every successful tag team title defence so far and a series of bangers including another potential one on this very show. She deserves the belt Bayley has been holding aloft, but will Extreme Rules be the night she finally reveals her true intent? With so much stuff going on, it seems wasteful, but WWE have just over a month until SummerSlam.

Amidst swamps and lost eyes, they may look for the best angle in the company to make this show a critical triumph as well an absurd experiment. Fear the worst if they do.
