During a WCW overseas tour in 1993, Arn Anderson and Sid Vicious got into an argument inside of a bar. As mentioned in the Plane Ride From Hell slide, those overseas tours could be brutal on the wrestlers, and tempers were bound to flare much easier than normal. This tour was particularly tough on the crew, as after a lengthy flight, they drove a few hours to a show, then wrestled, then traveled another 10 hours. By the time everyone hit the bar, tensions were incredibly high. Everyone just wanted to relax a bit before the next show.

While drinking, Anderson began wondering why the company wasn’t drawing, to which Vicious replied it was because Double A’s best friend Ric Flair was “An old man who needed to get the f**k out of the way.” Beer was immediately thrown, words were exchanged, but the two didn’t come to blows. Sid claimed while on the way back to his motel room, Anderson broke open a beer bottle and threatened to cut him with him.

Inside of his room, Vicious continued to stew about the incident to the point where he broke a chair, and planned to beat Anderson with one of the legs. He knocked on his door, and Anderson apparently saw that Vicious had a weapon, so he came to the door with a pair of scissors. Vicious claimed he was stabbed, but then wrestled the weapon away and began stabbing Anderson. Blood was everywhere, and Scorpio had to break things up (he was upset that Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat didn't come out of their rooms to help).

Anderson was reportedly stabbed 20 times, Vicious had to have surgery, Ted Turner nearly shut down the entire tour, and Bischoff fired Sid and suspended Anderson as soon as they returned.

While it was an incredibly violent incident, both wrestlers are incredibly lucky they weren't killed.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
