10 Hyped WWE Debuts That Were Total Misdirections

4. Emmalina

The most recent case of WWE's odd misdirections, Emmalina's instant demise brought seventeen weeks of buildup to a crushing halt as the talented Australian announced she'd now be returning to her original persona.

With WWE repeatedly moving the date of Emmalina's arrival back during their promotion of the character, the inane reveal felt like a continuation of the audience-trolling they appeared to be enjoying.

However, days after her brief sojourn on Raw, the truth behind the farce was revealed, when news emerged that neither Emma nor WWE were overly happy with the portrayal of the gimmick, and it was felt best that the entire thing get the chop.

It's unclear how damaging this could be for Emma's career of course, with today's situation masking a burgeoning 2016 main roster rebirth as a heel gathering steam before an unfortunate injury last May.

Emma was a curious choice for the role, with Eva Marie over on Smackdown Live and Mandy Rose in NXT both capable of going for the type of role WWE officials likened to Attitude era throwbacks Sable and The Kat.

Regardless of if a similar character gets a run-out in the near future, Emmalina will merely remain a punchline.
