From one Englishmen to another, and this one is just as surprising. William Regal is one of the most respected men in the wrestling business, but his career never took him to the heights of the main event. Despite that, you'd think he'd have at least one WrestleMania win, but no, that would be wishful thinking.
Regal went straight for the Intercontinental Championship in his first WrestleMania appearance, battling the champion Chris Jericho at the show's seventeenth outing. Naturally, he came away as the loser. He followed this up a year later, this time coming into the event as the Intercontinental Champion but losing it to ECW legend Rob Van Dam.
His only other appearances for the event came in the form of dark battle royals that didn't make it to air. Still, none of these did his record much good anyway, as he never won any of them.
This one just goes to show that being a great technical wrestler and garnering respect in the industry isn't always a recipe for success.
