5. Francesca - New Day's Trombone

There are two things that transformed New Day from an extremely entertaining threesome into one of the most marketable stables in recent memory: the unicorn horn headband and Francesca, the trombone. (Notice how Booty O's is not listed as a positive here. Note it well.)

Francesca is a signature musical prop, not unlike Jimmy Hart's megaphone or Jeff Jarrett's guitar. The main difference is that Francesca rose above her simple "utility" to become her own character.

In Xavier Woods' own words, the trombone "became a beast of its own". There was no plan to make the brass instrument a "thing", it just sort of grew into something bigger until he could no longer separate his character from the trombone.

Francesca has become as vital to New Day's success as any one member of the stable. In fact, when Chris Jericho broke her over his knee, it was even sadder than if we'd watched Jericho break Xavier's arm.

Luckily, Francesca II came around a short time later to fill that trombone-sized hole in all of our hearts.
