10 Incredible Links Between Wrestlers You'd Never Expect
3. Jim Cornette And Vince Russo Have More In Common That You'd Think
Jim Cornette and Vince Russo are mortal enemies destined to fight forever - but are united by their hatred of that very chant.
Both make a living burying AEW and modern wrestling in general. Both are on record making horrible comments about Japanese wrestlers and their "place" in the United States scene. Where Russo once said "I don't give a sh*t about a Japanese guy," on one of his failed short-lived podcasts, Cornette has routinely blasted the joshi arm of AEW's women's division on the Drive Thru and the Experience.
Weirdly, since Cornette has habitually buried Russo and his booking approach, and it makes Cornette "f*cking ill" that Russo never took wrestling seriously and never tried to make fans believe in it, Cornette has his own history with the dreaded "worked shoot".
He never really blurred the lines when he actually had the booking pencil, but across various platforms - the shoot interview circuit and his own podcast racket - Cornette has fantasy-booked more than one such storyline.
His idea for the invasion was more Russo than Vince Russo's version!
Where Russo just proposed to do more of the same nWo sh*te, Cornette's version saw William Regal jump to WCW and stiff Chris Benoit to convince the fans that the WWF Vs. WCW feud was "real" (even though it was literally the one feud that anybody took seriously at the time).
He also claimed that FTR should have shot on and sandbagged the Young Bucks at Full Gear 2020 in order to make it seem like they really hated their weaker and softer opponents.
Maybe in response, Nick Jackson could have refused to "go up" for the Shatter Machine, f*cking hell.
