No one in WWE history has held the Intercontinental Championship longer than Gunther.

His single title reign – which ended at WrestleMania 40 when Sami Zayn defeated him – is longer than the cumulative days that any other wrestler has held the championship. It’s an insane feat that very likely will not be eclipsed for decades.

Clocking in at 666 days, Gunther’s reign is a full two-plus months longer than the next closest active wrestler, The Miz, who took eight reigns to reach 592 days.

Of course, Gunther’s IC title reign was not the only record run to end this past weekend…
