10 Incredible Stories Behind Famous Wrestling Themes
4. Goldberg's WCW Theme Was Stock Music
Similar to Austin, Bill Goldberg was WCW's great white hope, a star they could point to as proof that their Power Plant development facility was a rip-roaring success. For the first few years of his run with the company, Goldberg was on fire - fans were interested in absolutely everything the guy was doing, and enjoyed following his winning streak almost as much as anything else in wrestling during the mid-to-late-90s.
As with many top characters, Goldberg had an exclusive entrance, one which had security walking with him to the ring, hinting at the fact that the man was a loose cannon who could snap at any time. Coming across as unbelievably dangerous, Goldberg erupted into arenas amid smoke and fireworks, punching, kicking, and snorting his way down to the ring as a thundering piece of music played on the PA.
Surprisingly, the track Goldberg would use wasn't written exclusively for him, but was instead a piece of stock music purchased by WCW years prior. There aren't really any noteworthy examples of the music playing on WCW TV before Goldberg would come along, but it's funny to think that such a fitting entrance piece wasn't created solely for WCW's new phenomenon.
