Bart Gunn didn’t exactly get over in the traditional main event ticket selling kind of way. His face wasn’t featured on a bunch of t-shirts and a series of action figures weren’t released of him. But the guy did get over to an extent, because nearly 20 years later fans are still talking about him.

The other entries on this list are more imaginative/creative ways talents got themselves over in the eyes of management. Gunn did it with his fists. You can’t deny that he didn't do everything asked of him when he not only won the Brawl for All tournament but absolutely dominated his way through it. To send a message that he wasn't just a goofy, cowboy hat wearing midcarder, he knocked out Dr. Death, the man the tournament was essentially designed around in the second round. That left management scrambling as what to do next.

After the tournament came to a brutal close, Gunn was given a match with Butterbean at WrestleMania XV due to his victories. There’s simply no way that would have happened had he not won the tournament. Did it pan out for him? Oh hell no! It took less than a minute for him to be knocked out cold.

You can only imagine what would have happened, had he somehow overcome the odds again and won that fight too.

But it wasn’t meant to be.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
