10 Indisputable Reasons Why Vince McMahon Is Not A Genius

1. He€™s Failed At Every Other Venture

Did you enjoy the World Bodybuilding Federation? If you did, you were the only one. How many times did you go to the WWF New York restaurant? How many albums from SmackDown records did you buy? How many WWE Studios movies are actually not embarrassingly awful and make you want to throw yourself off a building (I€™m looking at you Knucklehead!), and more importantly, actually make any money? Lastly, how many XFL games did you attend?

Vince McMahon knows wrestling, that much is for sure. However, it€™s arguable that€™s all he knows when it comes to business. He lacks the knowledge of what people want in entertainment outside of the squared circle. This means his other businesses close down without anyone noticing, (SmackDown records) or wind up as national embarrassments like the XFL.

These outside ventures have caused him to lose millions of dollars that could have been used to expand his wrestling empire, or pay his talent a better salary. Worse yet, when he takes his eye off the wrestling ball, his main product appears to suffer. Then we€™re left with people trying to make a product that is a poor imitation of what Vince McMahon wants...which usually isn€™t that great in the first place.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
