10 Insane Wrestling Gimmicks (Probably) Coming Soon To WWE NXT 2.0
8. Instagram Influencer
You want to get the kids interested? Then you've got to get on the 'gram. Maybe if Vince went and got an Instagram account for himself, he'd finally be able to reach those youngsters and bring them to the NXT product. The best he can do before that is to create a gimmick that exists purely for the beloved app.
NXT has played with the idea of overly vein characters before, with Tyler Breeze being a prime example. He managed the social media concept pretty well, but this is WWE; they've got no time for subtlety, and thus, they'll probably want to delve even deeper into the idea.
Just grab any performer with a decent following, slap a flashy costume on them and have them spend the majority of their time talking about/being on Instagram. They could even live-stream their matches.
The irony here is that the concept - while bizarre - does have some legs to stand on. Having a superstar whose gimmick operates through social media would be an excellent chance for multi-media promotion. Still, the character would need to have a solid level of self-awareness, and is that something WWE could handle? You can probably judge that one for yourself.
