10 Irritating Wrestling Chants WWE Fans Really Need To Let Go
8. We Want Fire!
Another outdated chant that doesn't belong in mainstream American wrestling. Fire is an exciting spectacle to see in a match, but only when the story absolutely necessitates it. The Kane/Undertaker feud for example, needed fire because of the house fire that killed their parents. Mick Foley only ever used fire in WWE occasionally because he knew that less is more. Even in ECW, fire wasn't used in every match. Since the flames are controlled and every precaution is taken to ensure the wrestlers safety, lets forget for a second that fire is dangerous and focus on why we don't need to see fire in every hardcore match. It's overkill. Hardcore wrestling is fine when used sparingly and many Japanese and Indy promotions cater to fans who want to see it more often. But fans who see a single table pulled out from under the ring and start chanting for fire are just being unrealistic. Wrestlers are there to entertain us at a cost to their own health and safety. It's enough of a sacrifice to see them land on thumbtacks, broken glass and barbed wire. Stop demanding too much of them. And on the occasion that they finally do use fire, it will mean so much more.
As a wrestling fan I've flown across the Atlantic for the last five years specifically to attend WrestleMania (28 and 30) as well as TNA, ROH, Evolve, Chikara and most recently PWG.
I may have a problem!
But if you're reading my work then you probably love wrestling too, so lets focus on that!
