10 Irritating Wrestling Chants WWE Fans Really Need To Let Go
6. Shut The F*** Up!
Aside from the cursing during a family show, this chant has become more of a distraction than a response. Wrestlers have to cut promos. That's how they tell stories in between matches, how an angle moves forward, how we learn more about their characters. It's not as exciting as seeing two larger than life superstars beating the hell out of each other, but it's an essential part of the show. That's why it makes no sense telling them to shut up. Heels of course deserved to be booed and heels that talk for too long are deliberately creating suspense. Perhaps they're setting up the audience for the babyface'0s interruption. Perhaps it's just cheap heat, like Chris Jericho's legendary 1000 holds promo. Speaking of Y2J, remember when he did that silent gimmick? Is that what you want every wrestler to do? Telling wrestlers to shut the f*** up might be fun when a promo is dragging, but it makes us fans sound restless, impatient, and hard to please. These wrestlers are trying to tell a story for our entertainment. The least we can do is give them a chance. Which brings us to our next point.
As a wrestling fan I've flown across the Atlantic for the last five years specifically to attend WrestleMania (28 and 30) as well as TNA, ROH, Evolve, Chikara and most recently PWG.
I may have a problem!
But if you're reading my work then you probably love wrestling too, so lets focus on that!
