10 Jaw-Dropping Answers To Wrestling Open Challenges
3. Alberto Del Rio Returns
Never
say never in pro wrestling: No matter how badly a bridge is burned, nobody
leaves WWE forever.
Alberto
Del Rio was fired in August of 2014 for assaulting an employee who made a
racist joke. He then toured the world competing in various promotions such as
AAA, Ring of Honor and Lucha Underground. He seemed happier and more energetic
in the ring, relieved from the politics of McMahonland.
Of
course, money also offers relief, especially McMahon money. Del Rio returned to
the company at Hell in a Cell 2015, answering Cena’s open challenge for the
U.S. Title and being accompanied by former rival Zeb Colter. Even more shocking
was Del Rio pinning Cena clean after a superkick in well under ten minutes.
His
second stint was even more disappointing than the first, and Del Rio left the
company a year later.
