10 Kayfabe Wrestling Moments That Became Real

8. Triple H Mocks Goldberg... Then Beats Him Years Later

If you're ever stuck when trying to describe to a mate how weird the 'Monday Night War' was, then illustrate your point by mentioning Triple H's win over Gillberg on the 2 September 1999 SmackDown. For reference, that was the new show's third episode, and the WWF chose a Goldberg knock-off as Hunter's World Title foe.

The real deal must've been seething that this send up was getting so much screen time, but Bill didn't need to wait too long until he was doing the honours for Triple H too. Fast forward to SummerSlam 2003 and Goldberg was laying down for Trips inside the Elimination Chamber himself.

WWF parody had become real.

Of course, Goldberg was in WCW when the Gillberg squash was booked. If the WWF couldn't ridicule the genuine article, then they were damn sure going to do it to his comedic caricature as soon as humanly possible. Then, four years later, they finally got their moment.
